Kenneth White

— Funeral service for Kenneth White, 84, of Cement will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Calvary Temple in Cyril with Pastor Kip Ackley, officiating. Burial will follow at the Laverty Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. White passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home in Cement, OK.  He was 84 years old.

Kenneth Leroy White was born on May 9, 1929 in Verden, OK to Wesley Bennett and Lou Evelyn (Conn) White. He was raised on the family farm and enjoyed spending his childhood days outside with his family and friends. Kenneth joined the United States Army on January 14, 1942 and served 3 years, 7 months and 19 days before receiving an honorable discharge. Then, he married Rachel Caroline Cooper and moved to Tulsa, OK and started his career in building chain link fence, as well as starting his family. This union produced six children: Donnie Lynn, Kenneth Wayne, Patricia O’Clair, Carolynn Kay, Donna Belle and Melva Laverne. In 1964 he founded the Mohawk Fence Company and was owner/operator of that business until 1975. In 1977, he married Yvonne Brazeal (McGlamery) and gained three more children: Darrell “Butch” Gene, Paula Kay and Katrina Lynn. He spent his later years working in the oilfield for Young’s Well Service of Cement, OK. Kenneth spent all of his life loving being outside, hunting fishing, gardening or just sitting under the shade trees visiting with friends and family and watching his children, then grandchildren, then great-grandchildren play. He loved reading God’s Word and listening to good gospel music.

Kenneth is survived by his sons: Kenneth Wayne White and wife, Lena of Millerton, OK and Darrell “Butch” McGlamery of Lawton; and daughters: Patricia Diane O’Clair of Choctaw, Donna Belle White of Oklahoma City, Melva Laverne and husband, Bill of Chickasha, Paula Kay Nelson and Katrina “Tina” Lynn Rowden and husband, Tony “Ted” all of Cement. Two brothers: Bedford White of Cement and George White and wife, Mary of Hinton and one sister: Carol Settle of Enid. As well as 29 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren with two more on the way!

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Bennett and Lou Evelyn White; his wife, Yvonne White; one son: Donnie Lynn White; one daughter: Carolynn Kay White; four brothers: Ellis, Wayne, Van and Ferris; four sisters: Ruth Sechrist, Ruby Holmes, Gertrude Cooper and Dorothy Melvina White and two great-grandchildren: Shelby White and Cameron Minnick.
