Funeral services for Donald Lee Scott, 66, of Alex, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Stephen Jones officiating.
Donald Lee Scott was born December 7, 1941, in Chickasha, the son of Jack L. Scott and Augustine Jenkins Scott.. He died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, in Alex.
Don graduated from Cordell High School in 1959.
Don joined the U.S. Army in June of 1968 and retired in January of 1988, after twenty years of service retiring with the rank of Major.
He married Karen Wagner in Brandenburg, Kentucky, while he was stationed in Ft. Knox, Kentucky.
While in the armed forces he served as a Field Artillery Officer, a Nuclear Weapons Officer, worked with research and development and had served as a Nuclear Chemical Analyst.
He was awarded many Medals of Honor during his career in the Army such as the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Bronze Service Stars, two Oak Leaf Cluster’s, the National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral One Army Aviator Badge, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation along with many others.
After his retirement he and Karen moved to Forney, Texas to work in his brother’s State Farm Insurance Agency as the Office Manager where he was employed for thirteen years.
During his time in Forney he served on the City Council for two terms and also served on the Board of Adjustments. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his father Jack Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Scott, of the home; his mother, Augustine Howe, of Chickasha; his step-mother, Margie Scott, of Yukon; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Regina Williams, of Alex; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebellee and Benny Dollar, of Chickasha; six grandchildren, Devin and Dylan Dollar, Kristin, Ashley, Tony and Tobi Williams; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Emma Rouse; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Rita Scott, of Terrell, Texas, Rick and Kathy Scott, of Piedmont and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008, in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
