DAVICE “JOYCE” RUSSELL

Funeral services for Davice “Joyce” Russell, 78, of Chickasha, will be held Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Johnny Wray officiating and Jarle Bjork assisting.

Davice “Joyce” Russell was born June 5, 1929, in Rawlins, Wyoming, the daughter of Mitchell LeRoy Buck and Frances Vivian Dwight Buck. She died August 13, 2007, at her home in Chickasha .

Joyce grew up in Rawlins, Wyoming and also in South Dakota .

She married Bobby Ray Russell on June 26, 1952, in Stevenson, Washington . Bobby’s Navy career took them to California, where they were stationed in San Diego, Long Beach, Port Hueneme, and San Francisco .

They were also stationed in Waukegan, Illinois, and Norfolk, Virginia . Bobby retired in 1973, while stationed in San Diego, California.

After his retirement, they moved to Chickasha .

Joyce was a full time homemaker most of her life, caring for her family and her home. She also worked for David’s Café after coming to Chickasha .

She was an avid animal lover. She would take in any stray animal, nurse them back to health, and then find a home for them. She also loved to fish.

She is preceded in death by both parents, one son, Bradley Bryant, one grandson, Eric Acey, one brother, Mitchell Buck, Jr. and one sister, Frances Vivian White.

Survivors include husband Bobby Russell, of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby Ray and Doris Russell, of Chickasha, Mitchell and Kristi Russell, of Amarillo, Texas; five daughters and sons-in-law: Jerry Ann and Jerry Acey, of Amarillo, Texas, Sharon Rae Russell, of Chickasha, Cheryl Lynn Whitmore, of Mill City, Oregon, Joyce and Wayne Hostler, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Dorothy Nollner, of Spearman, Texas; eighteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made in Joyce’s honor to: Lifeline Hospice at 2210 S. 16th street; Chickasha, Oklahoma 73018, or to the Friends With 4 Paws Animals Shelter at Rt 1 Box 122; Chickasha, Oklahoma 73018.

Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas located at 6969 East Interstate 40, on Friday, August 17, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
