Funeral services for Winifred Garland (W.G.) Cunningham, 78, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
W.G. Cunningham was born March 30, 1929, in Chickasha, the son of Garland and Belvia (Stephens) Cunningham. He died February 6, 2008, in Chickasha.
On January 6, 1947, at the age of 17, Winifred married the love of his life, RuJoyce (Hubbard) in Childress, Texa. They were blessed with five children and enjoyed each others companionship for over 60 wonderful years.
Winifred was a master cabinet maker and ran his family business for over 30 years. In later years, he devoted all his time and efforts to making custom furniture for his family and friends. His personal goal was to make each of his thirteen grandchildren their own unique piece and he accomplished this remarkable task before his passing.
Winifred was extremely proud of his five childrens accomplishments: Larry served twenty years in the Army; Clinton took over the custom family business; Stanley had his own electrical contract company; Barbara and Loretta raised their children and went on to their own careers.
Winifred was preceded in death by both parents; wife, RuJoyce Cunningham; son, Stanley Cunningham.
He is survived by one brother, William and Sylvia Cunningham, of Chickasha; two sisters: Alta Dever, of Roswell, New Mexico and Georgia and Lloyd Howeth, of Terrel, Texas; two sons: Larry and Shirley Cunningham, of Chickasha; Clinton and Tressa Cunningham, of Golead, Texas; two daughters: Loretta and Larry Bean and Barbara and Clipper Carpenter, all of Alamogordo, New Mexico; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Winifred accepted Christ as his Savior at Lucile Baptist Church 60 years ago.
Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
