ELIZABETH GIBSON
Funeral service for Elizabeth Gibson, age 94, of Norman, Oklahoma, was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Leon Dennis officiated.
Elizabeth was born the daughter of John R. Bayless and Irene McNeily Bayless on April 28, 1912, in Alex, Oklahoma. She died on January 27, 2007, in Norman, Oklahoma.
Elizabeth graduated from Bradley High School. She married Bedford Gibson on August 15, 1933, in Clovis, New Mexico. They lived in Amarillo for a few years before moving to Chickasha. During World War II, she lived various places as she followed her husband in the United States Army. After the war, they moved back to Chickasha. Elizabeth began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company during the war and continued working for them until her retirement in 1976 with over thirty years as a telephone operator. While in Chickasha, she was a member of the Sixteenth and Florida Church of Christ and the Northside Church of Christ. After moving to Norman, she was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include:
Daughter: Betty Bryant of Norman; Grandsons: Michael, Marc, Maurice & Monte Bryant; Great-Grandchildren: Andrew, Justin, Jordan, Aaron, Marcie & Joseph Bryant.
Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service was under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
HERBERT LeROY McADAMS
Funeral service for Herbert LeRoy McAdams, age 69, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, in the Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. David Woods will officiate.
Herbert LeRoy McAdams was born the son of Herbert M. McAdams and Fay McDaniel on March 8, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He died on January 29, 2007, in Chickasha.
LeRoy attended Mustang schools and graduated from Mustang High School in 1955. He served in the United States Army and in the Army Reserves. LeRoy married Beverly Dunn on December 26, 1960, in Perry, Oklahoma. He worked as a truck driver for Fleming Foods, working in the Oklahoma City and Minneapolis Moline Warehouses. LeRoy and Beverly moved to Chickasha in 1962. He began working for Brandt’s and also worked for Star Machinery Co. in Chickasha. LeRoy started his own business, Small Engine Service in 1983 and semi-retired in 2000.
LeRoy was past president and secretary-treasurer of the Chickasha Optimist where he had been a club member for thirty-two years. He was president of the Grady County Historical Society. LeRoy enjoyed traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
