A Blanchard man has an October court date set after he was charged in Grady County District Court with assault with a dangerous weapon, according to court records.
Grady County Undersheriff Jim Weir said Willlie Lee Turner, 78, has been held at the Grady County Jail since his Aug. 28 arrest. A judge set Turner's bond at $500,000.
Weir said the charges against Turner stem from an incident that happened Aug. 27 at a residence near Bridge Creek. About 8 p.m. Aug. 27, a 10-year-old girl called the Grady County Sheriff's Department.
"She was very panicked and upset," Weir said. "She said her Paw Paw and grandma are fighting and he's got a gun."
Weir said a dispatcher tried to keep the girl calm as deputies responded to the home in the 1100 block of County Street 2980. The dispatcher also learned during the conversation that a 13-year-old girl was hiding in a bedroom.
When deputies arrived, Turner stepped outside the house, Weir said. Officers also spoke with Turner's wife.
"He admitted to threatening to kill her," Weir said. "He would not admit he pointed the gun at her."
Deputies arrested Turner on complaint of assault with a dangerous weapon, Weir said. He was taken to the county jail.Court records show Turner was charged with the felony complaint on Aug. 30. He has a preliminary hearing conference scheduled for Oct. 6.
