Beard wins fourth state title, Blanchard's Stringer places second

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Tuttle High School wrestling team won its fifth wrestling state tournament team title Saturday night in Oklahoma City, and it wasn’t close.

With six state champions, one runner-up and three third place finishers, the Tigers won with 193 team points, and second-place Cushing scored 82.

Blake Dauphin (113), Gunner Laffoon (132), Dakota Head (145), Zach Beard (170), Dustin Mason (220) and Nathan Jackson (285) won state championships.

Dayton Garrett (120) finished as runner-up, and Seth Shelton (152), Austin Elam (160) and Riley Fielder (182) finished third.

Beard completed his high school wrestling career with his fourth-straight state championship and a 41-0 season.

Blanchard High School 160-pound junior Braden Stringer was the Lions’ only representative at the state tournament, and he finished as a state runner-up.
