Eight Chickasha football players received recognition at the 5A District 1 level for their part in the 2013 season.

Senior quarterback Cade Morris and fellow senior defensive lineman Oron Bowman were named Offensive and Defensive players of the year, respectively, for the district. The pair were also given the same awards by the team at a banquet earlier this week.

Two offensive lineman received credit for their work protecting Morris all season and opening up running lanes. John Phillips and Connor Crossley were named to the All-District Offense team. One of those players that benefited from those running lanes in a big way, Chickasha's Player of the Year Josh Latham, was also named to the All-District Offense team.

Senior T.J. Filer made the All-District Defense team as a defensive end. Evan Copeland, who spend nearly half of the season out with injury, was named to the All-District secondary. Hunter Ford won the specialty All-District tag as a deep snapper.

The Fightin' Chicks finished the season 5-6 (3-4), making the playoffs for the first time since 2006. They lost to Guthrie, who will be playing for the 5A state title game next weekend. Chickasha made it to the playoffs by beating rivals Duncan on the final Friday of the regular season.
