Chickasha swimming takes second at home meet

CHICKASHA —

Chickasha's relay teams started from where they left off last season in their first swimming meet at home.

Both the girls and boys relay teams placed in the top three of three different meets and had individuals in the top three of eight more events. The performance was good enough for the girls to place second overall and the boys placed third. Shawnee took first in both.

Senior Madison Rivas stood out for the Chickasha girls' team as a member of the 200 meter medley relay that placed third with a time of 2:46.68 and the 200 meter freestyle relay that placed second with a time of 2:27.13. She also took first place in the 200 meter freestyle and second in the 500 meter freestyle.

Joining her was sophomore Caitlin Critchfield, who was also part of the 200 meter freestyle and medley relays and placed first in the individual 100 meter butterfly and third in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:28.3. Martlie McKnight, Greta Crowl, Kristen Kern, and Bailey Bryan were part of the girls' 400 meter freestyle relay that placed second.

Dale Courtney placed second in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:11.63. He was followed closely by senior Andrew Ross who placed third with a time of 1:14.22. He and Courtney joined Kale Nye and Jared Thomson to take second in both the 200 meter medley relay and the 200 meter freestyle relay. Ross, Nye, Shaun Jacobson and Austin Kile placed second in the 400 meter freestyle relay.

Senior Nye also placed third in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:29.34.

The Fightin' Chicks swim team has a lengthy layoff before their next meet, which they will host at the USAO Field House on Nov. 26.
