Burrows builds-up ahead of regionals

GUTHRIE —

After a tough opening 18 holes, Cody Burrows has built up some momentum ahead of regionals with a fifth place finish at the Guthrie Bluejay Bash.

The Chickasha golfer posted an even par 71 at Cimarron National to jump from 17th to his final position on Thursday. Burrows started on the Aqua Canyon course in the 36-hole tournament with a score of 74.

The finish will do well for Burrows, coach Chad Randle said, because Cimarron National is the more difficult of the two courses.

"It was a solid round that should bring him some confidence going into the 5A Regional," Randle said.

The regional will be held on Monday at Shawnee Country Club.

Edmond North won the Bluejay Bash team title.
