The Chickasha High School track and field teams will be participating in eight events during the 5A state track meet in Yukon, which begins today and concludes Saturday.
Last season, Chickasha qualified for state in six events, and only one of those was a boys event.
This season, the Chicks qualified in four girls events and four boys events. Two Chickasha freshmen qualified in individual events.
Senior Chelci Oliver will run in heat one, lane seven in the girls 100 meter dash prelims
Freshman Hannah Fergason will run in heat two, lane seven in the 300 meter hurdles prelim.
The girls 4x100 meter relay team will run in heat one, lane six in the preliminaries. Last season's relay team, which included then-senior Dawnshaye Blakes, finished fifth in the state with a time of 50.96 in the finals.
The boys 4x100 meter relay team will run in heat two, lane two in the preliminaries.
The girls 4x200 meter relay team will run in heat two, lane seven in the preliminaries. The Lady Chicks' 2012 4x200 team was 12th in prelims last season.
The boys 4x200 meter relay team will run in heat two, lane six in the preliminaries.
Senior Shaq Oliver will jump 10th in the boys high jump, which includes 18 total participants.
Freshman Kyle McNatt will jump sixth in the boys long jump, which includes 16 total participants. McNatt is the only freshman to qualify for the 5A state long jump this year.
The state meet for class 5A and 6A will be at Yukon High School.
