The USAO men's basketball team overcame a first-half deficit to beat Lubbock Christian in Lubbock, Texas on Thursday night.
The Drovers won the game 82-75, and are now 15-8 overall this season, and 8-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference games. Lubbock Christian is now 15-13, 8-8 in conference play.
Norris Rumph led all scorers with 31 points in 39 minutes. Rumph shot 6-for-10 from the field, 4-for-7 from 3-point range and hit 15 out of 16 free throws. He also had six rebounds and two assists.
The Drovers shot 38 percent in the first half, compared to 51 percent for Lubbock Christian, and USAO trailed 41-33 at halftime.
In the second half, USAO shot 56 percent and got to the free throw line 20 times, converting 17 of those attempts, while the Drovers' defense held Lubbock Christian to 38 percent shooting.
A.J. Luckey led LCU with 22 points, and Jabril Durham scored 14 points, to go along with nine rebounds and five assists.
For USAO, Graham Faulkner scored 12 points, and Kennis white scored 10.
The USAO women's basketball team couldn't break its six-game losing streak, and lost 89-62 at Lubbock Christian on Thursday.
The Drovers played a dismal first half, scoring only 15 points on 6-for-24 shooting as a team. Lubbock Christian led 51-15 at halftime.
Celeste Smith was the only USAO player in double figures with 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting in 11 minutes of play.
The loss drops the USAO women to 10-17 this season and 1-14 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Both USAO basketball teams are scheduled to play Wayland Baptist on the road Saturday. The women will play at 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.
