Chicks win one of two in McAlester

— The Chickasha High School baseball team lost its first game but won the second Friday in the McAlester 5A Shootout tournament.

The Fightin' Chicks are now 25-5 after losing 11-3 to No. 2 Claremore and beating Collinsville 10-2.

In the first game, Blake Burns pitched four innings and gave up six runs, but five of them were unearned runs.

The Chicks had four errors in the first game.

Lane Smith hit a two-run double in the first inning, and Burnshit an RBI single in the first as well.

Freshman Brandon Shumway pitched in the second game, going 3.2 innings and striking out five batters.

Shumway  had five walks, but did not give up a hit. He allowed one earned run and one unearned run.

Catcher Tresjon Davis was 2-for-2 in the game with three RBIs.

Chickasha had two regularly-scheduled evening games Friday, first against Durant and then against McAlester.

Chickasha will finish up the tournament Saturday, with the opponent and time to be announced.
