Mighty Mite football registration starts Sunday

Sign-ups for Chickasha Mighty Mite football and cheerleading will be held this sunday, July 28, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Hibbett Sports.

Another registration will be held on Aug. 4 and 11 at the same time and location. Children between ages three and 12 are eligible to play or cheer in the Mighty Mite leagues, which include teams from Chickasha, Anadarko, Cyril Elgin, Weatherford, Lawton, Carnegie, and Cache.

Activity began ahead of the fall football season for Might Mite when a conditioning camp was held last week for children interested in taking part in the league. Dozens of area kids gathered at the Fightin' Chicks football practice field between July 15 and 19 to begin getting in shape.

Equipment rentals will be announced at a later date. Last year the opportunity to rent shoulder pads and helmets for $10 a piece fell on Aug. 25 at the Chickasha Sports Complex.
