Am-Po stays hot going into county tourney

— The Grady County Tournament is underway at Minco High School, and four more games are on the schedule today.

The Rush Springs High School girls basketball team will play Oklahoma Christian Academy at 4 p.m.

The Verden boys will play OCA at 5:30 p.m.

The defending-champion Amber-Pocasset girls will play Ninnekah tonight at 7 p.m., and the day ends with the Am-Po boys playing Ninnekah at 8:30 p.m.

The Alex High School boys basketball team lost to No. 3 Sterling on the road Friday night.

Sterling beat the Longhorns 51-42, handing Alex its fourth loss in a row, after the team started the season 9-2.

The Alex High School girls basketball team lost 55-34 to No. 8 Sterling, and is 5-10.

The Amber-Pocasset High School boys basketball team beat class A No. 5 Fort Cobb-Broxton at home Friday night.

It was the Panthers' third win in a row, bringing their record to 13-5.

The Lady Panthers also beat Fort Cobb, 47-36, giving them seven wins in a row going into the Grady County Tournament. Am-Po is now 14-3, and ranked No. 16 in class 2A.

The Bridge Creek High School girls basketball team beat Little Axe at home Friday, and lost a road game to Tuttle on Saturday night.

The Lady Bobcats beat Little Axe 71-59, and lost 67-52 to the Lady Tigers. Ranked No. 17, Bridge Creek's girls are 12-4.

The Ninnekah High School boys basketball team lost 71-35 to Hinton at home Friday night, dropping its record to 1-12. The Lady Owls lost 52-23 to Hinton, and are 3-9.

The Rush Springs High School boys basketball team lost on the road, 64-37, to Verden on Friday night and is now 2-11. The Verden Tigers are 10-8, having lost to Hollis, 55-33, on Saturday night.

The Lady Redskins beat Verden's girls, 53-30, on Friday night, and improved to 11-3. After beating Hollis 36-29 on Saturday, the Lady Tigers are 7-11.

Tuttle High School's boys basketball team beat Lindsay, 67-36, on Friday night on the road, and is now 8-4.

The Lady Tigers lost 74-46 to Lindsay, dropping to 7-6.
