No. 9 Drovers lose at home

CHICKASHA — A strong first half just wasn’t enough for the Drovers to overcome the No. 25 John Brown Eagles on Tuesday night at the USAO Fieldhouse.

Earlier the evening of the game, the NAIA released the newest Top 25 poll, seeing the Drovers (8-3, 1-2) jump to No. 9 and John Brown (13-3, 2-0) break into the Top 25.

At halftime, the Drovers had an eight-point lead on the strong-shooting Eagles. For the game, the Eagles shot 52.5 percent from the field and nearly 48 percent from beyond the arc.

John Brown came back determined in the second half, scoring eight unanswered points in the first three and a half minutes to tie the score at 40.

As the game went on, the Eagles wore the Drovers down and took the lead in the last five minutes of the game and were able to hold it to grab the win.

The Drovers next game, which is at No. 4 Oklahoma Baptist at 5 p.m. Saturday, has been named the NAIA Game of the Week.
