Amber-Pocasset wins Grady County softball tournament

— The Amber-Pocasset High School slow-pitch softball team won the Grady County Tournament, which the Panthers hosted, on Monday in Amber.

The Lady Panthers beat Dibble 18-3 in the first round, Verden 7-6 in the second round and shut out Rush Springs 8-0 in the finals.

With the three wins in a row, Am-Po is now 7-4 this season, with a rematch at Rush Springs coming up at 4 p.m. Thursday.

In the first game against Dibble, the Lady Panthers scored 11 runs in the fifth inning.

In the second game, Verden made a comeback in the fourth inning by scoring four runs, but Amber-Pocasset scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth to win the only game of their tournament that was in any doubt.

Verden beat Union City 12-3 in the first round, and recovered from the Am-Po loss with a 13-2 win over Alex.

Rush Springs beat Minco 15-0 and Alex 11-0 in the Lady Redskins' other two games.
