— Chickasha High School center Joey Sylvester was named to The Oklahoman's 5A All-Tournament basketball team for his performances Thursday and Friday at Sapulpa and Tulsa.

Sylvester was Chickasha's second-leading scorer this season, and he averaged 17 points per game in two games of the state tournament.

Joining Sylvester on the All-Tournament team are Demari Edwards and Devin Perez (Tulsa Memorial) and Will Lienhard and David Love (Bishop McGuinness).

Memorial beat Bishop McGuinness in the state finals. Perez was the tournament MVP.

Sylvester scored 19 points in Chickasha's upset win over No. 3 Southeast High School in the state quarterfinals at Sapulpa High School on Thursday.

In the state semifinals against No. 1 Bishop McGuinness, Sylvester scored 15 points in Chickasha's 50-40 loss to the Irish.

Chickasha's starting lineup included five seniors, and the experienced group took the program to its first state tournament since 2005.

Only four Chickasha High School boys basketball teams have gone to the state tournament since 1970: Once in 1988, two times in a row in 03-04 and 04-05, and now the 2012-13 Fightin' Chicks.
