NORMAN — While all eyes today will be on true freshman quarterback Wes Lunt in his first college start, the man snapping the ball to the Oklahoma State quarterback will also be making his first college start — as a 22-year-old senior.
When center Evan Epstein snaps the first ball back to Lunt it will be the culmination of a long journey that started at the Air Force Academy and ends with a three years in the OSU program as a backup center.
"It's a feeling that's really hard to put into words, but I can tell you I'm beyond excited," Epstein said. "It's been a really long road, but I feel confident with all the stuff I've learned since I've been here and I'm ready to go out there and play for Oklahoma State."
But a lot of the excitement for Epstein is just getting to play alongside the guys who have been working on the offensive line for the last few years.
"I'm more excited about getting to play next to my teammates," Epstein said. "I've been wanting to play next to Lane (Taylor) and (Jonathan) Rush and Parker (Graham) for years now. And now I'm getting that chance to play."
