Easy does it for Lady Chicks against Madill

An early morning matchup turned into a walk in the park for Chickasha girls, as they eased into the consolation final of the Chickasha Invitational with a 5-0 win over Madill.

Two goals each from senior Alyssa Willets and junior Tara Arnold added to the opener from Katie Hinch on ten minutes. It was one-way traffic for the duration of the game as the Lady Chicks easily could have had more. After all it was only a few weeks ago they beat this same Madill team 10-0 in preseason.

Willets was the creative force once again, and it was her through ball down the left to Hinch that created the first goal. The original shot was saved before Hinch got to the rebound and put it into the back of the net.

Creator turned finisher 12 minutes later. Ashley Owens picked up a ball down the right before crossing it into the box where it deflected off a defender and straight to Willets. With acres of space in front of goal, the senior took her time before a strong finish to double the advantage.

Soon after halftime, Arnold had her first and Chickasha’s third. Willets provided the ball down the left where Arnold outpaced the entire Madill back line and sent the ball into the net near post.

They reversed rolls later for Willets’ second, Arnold’s ball into space in the box where the midfielder finished low to the right. The junior left winger completed the rout five minutes from time. Madill were unable to clear a corner, and Arnold found it for Chickasha’s fifth.

Mannford or Lawton-MacArthur await the Lady Chicks in the consolation final at 5 p.m. on field two, just north of the high school’s main field.
