Rush girls one win from state after Wright result

BYNG, Okla. —

Rush Springs girls continued on their path to Class 2A state with a 55-45 win over Wright City in Byng on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Redskins, ranked seventeenth in the state, fought back from a four-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to progress to the area consolation final on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Junior Jaycie Cullers led the effort with 18 points by penetrating the lane time and time again, while senior Kaylin Renneker sank 15 points from long-range.

"It was a great effort by the girls," head coach Rick Parrish said. "Every team is going to make their run at this stage, and fortunately we made ours."

Rush Springs will play the loser of No. 5 Cordell vs. No. 8 Latta, who played late Friday in the area championship game. Latta beat Rush Springs by 12 in the regional final for the only blemish on an otherwise solid run of games for the Lady Redskins.

"We're really playing well right now, as good as we have this season," Parrish said. "The girls definitely believe in themselves."
