Shinn at 3 p.m.: Poll puts Jones as strong Heisman contender

NORMAN — Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones is a Heisman Trophy candidate. polled Heisman voters to give 15 legitimate contenders entering the season and Jones was listed on 97 percent of the lists.

Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore, Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson and USC quarterback were the other players to appear of on 97 percent of the lists.

West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith (83 percent), Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein (39 percent) and Oklahoma State running back Joseph Randle (22 percent) were the only other Big 12 Conference players to appear on at least 18 percent of the respondents' lists.
