CHS, Tuttle, Blanchard wrestlers qualify for state

Four Chickasha wrestlers will compete at the Class 5A State competition starting this Friday after qualifying from regionals on Saturday.

Senior Josh Latham suffered his first loss of the season in overtime of the semifinal round in the 195-pound class. The defending state champ came back to get a pin and an 8-4 win to place third and book his place in state.

Fellow senior Triston Hill upset the number two seed at 160-pounds in a 7-4 semifinal win, placing second overall after a loss in the finals. Joining him and Latham at state will be Riley Williams, who at 182-pounds also beat the second seed, this time 3-0 in the semifinals. He lost a close finals match 3-2.

Sophomore Dakota Resendez placed second at 126-pounds. He avenged a loss from earlier in the season to win 7-3 in the semifinals, then lost a close 3-2 finals match.

The State meet takes place over Friday and Saturday of this week at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds.
