Poor shooting results in loss to John Brown

CHICKASHA — Four Drovers scored in the double digits in a loss to John Brown on Tuesday night at the USAO Fieldhouse.

Leading the pack were seniors Krista Ford and Rocio Medrano, who each had 17 points. Tashina Ototivo had 10 points and led the team in rebounds with eight. Junior Rashelle Carr had 10 points.

In the game, the Drovers put pressure on the Golden Eagles, forcing them to take last second shots, but it seemed as if the Eagles couldn’t miss a shot Tuesday night. In fact, John Brown shot 46.8 percent from the field.

USAO stayed in the game, trailing by just eight at halftime and taking the lead back just five minutes into the second half.

The lead changed a total of eight times in the second half before the Eagles ultimately took the 69-60 win.

The Drovers shot 37 percent from the field and 75 percent from the charity stripe.

USAO, now 9-6 overall and 0-3 early in conference play, will move on to play Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee on Saturday before returning home to host Wayland Baptist at 6 p.m. on Jan. 17.

It will be Paint the Fieldhouse Green Night and fans are encouraged to sport their Drover green to the game. Drover Nation Spirit Club will host and the Grand Spirit Squad will perform at the men’s halftime.
