Chickasha basketball starts 2013 with road losses at Carl Albert

Lady Chicks contain Carter but lose game

The Chickasha High School girls basketball team lost 46-29 to the No. 4 Carl Albert Lady Titans on Friday night in Midwest City.

The loss drops the Lady Chicks down to 4-5 this season.

Chickasha actually out-scored Carl Albert in two of the four quarters of the game, but was out-scored 20-8 in a decisive third quarter.

Freshman Dominique Golightly was Chickasha's leading scorer with nine points, and she had six rebounds.

Kieley Clift had eight points, four rebounds and three steals.

Alex Stewart had six points, three rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.

Sierra Hamilton scored four points and had 12 rebounds.

The Lady Chicks struggled shooting, hitting on only 20 percent of their shots in the game.

Chickasha was up against one of the best high school girls basketball players in the state, Carl Albert senior Gioya Carter, who has signed to play for Sherri Coale at the University of Oklahoma.

Carter was held to only seven points in the game.

The 5-foot-9 guard was a first-team 5A All-State selection last season, and was named to the state All-Tournament team after averaging 28 points per game in the state tournament last season.

The Chickasha girls will play Piedmont at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the CHS Activity Center, followed by the boys game at 8 p.m.
