Rush, Am-Po, Verden all host district games


Baseball playoffs begin next week, and Rush Springs, Amber-Pocasset, Verden and Blanchard will all host their first foray into the postseason.

In the best two out of three series, Rush Springs hosts Dibble in Class 2A. An official date for the contest has not been set, but it will occur between May 1-3. The Redskins are ranked No. 10 in Class 2A.

Elsewhere, Ninnekah will head to Hobart for their series starting May 1. The Owls will play a double-header at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., and Game 3 will be played the following day if necessary.

Ninnekah is coming off an 8-0 drubbing of Central High in their final game of the season on Tuesday.

Minco will head to Cordell for their district contest, with times TBA for May 1-3.

Amber-Pocasset hosts county rivals Alex and Maysville in their first round playoff game. The Longhorns will play Maysville at 3 p.m., with the loser of that game turning around to immediately play hosts Panthers at 5 p.m. The winner plays Am-Po at 7 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament.

Grady County Champions and No. 11 Verden will host Temple in district. The first game starts at 2 p.m. Thursday, with game 2 scheduled for 4 p.m. The Tigers had their most recent game against Am-Po canceled by weather, but before that they did continue winning ways with a 5-1 victory against Riverside.

In Class 4A, No. 1 Tuttle gets a bye in the district round. The Tigers are on an eight game winning streak that stretches back to April 14. Their most recent success came in an 8-0 win at home to No. 15 Cache.

Blanchard plays Santa Fe South in their first round game, and they'll get a shot at the Class 4A favorites Tuttle in the final game of their season set for April 29.
