Chicks baseball wins first two in Washita Valley

CHICKASHA — Lane Smith launched two home runs, and a couple more Chickasha players very nearly hit balls out of the park as the Chicks blew out Durant in their second game of the Washita Valley Classic on Thursday.

Chickasha beat the Lions 10-0 in a four-inning run-rule victory, and improved to 13-2 this season.

As soon as the game started, it was clear the Chicks were about to do some damage against Durant's starting pitcher.

The first two batters of the game, Luke Dixon and Cade Morris, hit deep fly ball outs and trotted back to the dugout talking about how they just missed on easy pitches.

Smith was the third batter up, and he didn't miss, scoring the first run of the game on a solo home run.

Brooks Bush, Luke Dixon and Cade Morris each started off the second inning with RBIs.

Smith came up to bat again with Dixon and Morris on base, and hit a three-run homer to give Chickasha a 7-0 lead.

The Chicks scored three more runs in the third inning, and ended the game after about an hour.

Earlier in the day, Chickasha got an even more lopsided victory, beating Western Heights 16-0 by run rule.

Chickasha's seeding and game time Saturday was determined after Friday. Saturday's games begin at 11 a.m., and the championship game is at 4:30 p.m. at Elliott Field.
