Tuttle splits Senior Night games

TUTTLE — The towering duo of Hope Dankins and Alicia Sandlin took Bridge Creek past Tuttle girls 48-32 on senior night for the Lady Tigers on Tuesday.

Dankins led the floor with 16 points, most of those coming from the low block area she dominated all night. Sandlin contributed 13 in similar fashion, while four baskets from beyond the arc from Taylor Mellinger solidified the win and gave her 12.

With Dankins and Sandlin making things difficult for Tuttle on the other end of the floor, the Lady Tigers were left to try their luck from long range. Senior Shelby Carel made the most of her chances to lead Tuttle with 12 points on the night.

The Lady Bobcats took a 12 point lead into halftime, and came out of the break firing on all four cylinders. Mellinger’s fourth three pointer on the night capped a 13-3 Bridge Creek run that essentially saw the game out.

Tigers put on a show in big win

Casey Kraeger doesn’t usually start games for Tuttle, but the senior showed his worth as one of the first five on Tuesday.

Kraeger was one of three Tuttle players in double-digits as the Tigers demolished Bridge Creek 79-45. A total of fifteen threes were scored between the two teams, and he had three of those to finish the night on a game-high 17 points. Also hitting from long range was Tyler Lester, who finished with 13 points.

Bridge Creek didn’t even get on the board until three-and-a-half minutes were left in the first quarter, and by then it was already 10-3. The Tigers employed a high-pressure defense that Bridge Creek struggled against. Kraeger and Jett Jobe sank back-to-back breakaway layups to help Tuttle to a 12 point lead.

Evan Girard came off the bench for the Bobcats to sink 10 points, but his contribution was only a consolation as Tuttle dominated in all areas. When the outside shots weren’t there, Tristan Thompson found plenty of time inside the perimeter to put in 16 points for the Tigers.
