Carl Albert homers hold down Chicks

CHICKASHA — The Chickasha High School baseball team lost to Carl Albert at Elliott Field on a cold Monday evening.

The Fightin' Chicks' offense was also cold in the 7-1 loss. Chickasha was able to get hits against the Titans, but left 10 runners on base throughout the game.

The only run of the game by the home team was scored by Cade Morris in the bottom of the seventh.

Morris doubled off Gavin LaValley, and scored on a Brant Haile single.

Lane Smith started on the mound for Chickasha, and pitched three scoreless innings before the wheels came off in the fourth.

Cory Zangari started the inning off with a solo home run.

Smith struck out the next two batters, but walked one and gave up two singles for another run, culminating in a three-run homer by Justin McGregor.

Carl Albert padded its lead with two more runs in the seventh inning.

Mario Medina entered the game in relief of Smith, and LaValley homered on his first pitch.

Chevin Noone singled off Medina, and then freshman Braden Belden entered the game. Noone scored on a wild pitch, but Belden was able to get out of the inning.

Chickasha begins play in the Washita Valley Classic on Thursday at 4:45 p.m.
