Two for Tuttle basketball over Blanchard

TUTTLE —

Tuttle's boys basketball team justified their OSSAA ranking on Tuesday night, beating local rivals Blanchard 65-25.

The win secured the double over the Lions, as the Tuttle girls had already won their game 50-43 earlier that night.

From the very start, the Tigers commenced to an in-your-face style offense, driving the lane to sink contested layups. Junior Tyler Lester got things going and continued to lead his team forward throughout the game.

Tuttle's Dalton Secrist made things difficult on Blanchard defensively. Secrist used his 6’6" frame to keep the Lions from any easy baskets and turned around to sink a few of his own on the other end.

The Tiger’s continued to isolate Lester in one-on-one situations that he regularly won. Blanchard was left to take three point shots, which on the night just weren't falling.

The Lady Tigers started the game on a 9-0 run to open up a valuable lead. Tuttle used their speed to capitalize on fast break points, and when they were forced to slow down, the offensive production did not. Blanchard forced plenty of turnovers, but they were never able to capitalize and take back control of the game.

The first few minutes of the third quarter saw Carly Koons and Aspen Loard score quickly and Peyton Garrett hit a three to extend Tuttle’s lead further. But at just about that time, the game began to turn around for the Lions. A few turnovers turned into crucial points, and their efficient work from the free throw line brought them back into the game.

After trailing by almost twenty points in the start of the third quarter, Blanchard had cut the deficit to six by the early minutes of the fourth. But even with the late effort, that big deficit proved insurmountable.
