Educating voters on the importance of school board elections will continue for two candidates in the Chickasha Public School Independent School Board Member Office 2 race after tonight's election ended in a runoff.
Incumbent Bruce Storms and Ryan Copeland will face off on April 2 to decide who will move the Chickasha Independent School District Forward.
"I look forward to answering the people's questions and moving the election forward," Storms said. "I hope we will both be able to answer people's questions and move forward."
Copeland did not return calls before press time.
Storms said he was unhappy with voter turnout.
"The biggest disappointment is we had somewhere around 350 people vote in this election," Storms said. "I am sure the weather had something to do with it, but we need to do a better job of making the public aware of school elections. I think it's apathy that sinks a ship."
Storms said he hopes to use this as an incentive for both and he and Copeland to spend more time in the community talking with people about the issues.
"We both want a better education system for our children," he said.
