Chickasha police officers were out in force this weekend, looking for violations of alcohol compliance checks.
"In an effort to combat illegal sales, Chickasha police investigators and officials from the Red Rock Behavioral Health Service went to 18 establishments attempting to purchase beer by utilizing an anonymous under aged buyer," a release from CPD Chief Eddie Adamson read.
During the operation, only one person was caught selling beer to a minor.
"At Love’s North, 1001 W. Choctaw St., Kellen Young, the 22-year-old store clerk sold beer to the minor and was issued a $538.00 municipal citation," the release states.
This was a dramatic improvement from the compliance check in November 2012.
“During November of last year a compliance check was done where five businesses sold to a minor, in April when we did another compliance check three places sold, and with the latest check this weekend only one location sold to a minor, so I think we are making an impact in the area of sales to minors,” commented Adamson. “The detectives conducted this compliance check the first weekend after school came back into session and they will be continuing it periodically throughout the year.”
