After four-and-a-half years of service, Bud Andrus has resigned from his position as president of the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce.

"He basically feels like it is time for him to step aside," Chairman of the Chamber's Board Dwight Yokum said. "He had a mission and goals when he took office and he has completed those goals.

Andrus will serve as president until Dec. 31. During the next three months, Yokum said the chamber's board will look for their next leader.

Yokum said there has been interest by some parties in taking over the position as an interim, but that no chamber member has promoted such action.

"We plan to accept applications from inside and outside of the organization," Yokum said. "Our hope is that we can find someone to really work with us on getting the word out about businesses in Chickasha as well as events."

Yokum said Andrus gave the chamber the direction it needed in order to create functioning committees.

"He's really done a lot to help our membership and started the process of increasing tourism for Chickasha," Yokum said. "He's done a lot to help transition the chamber back into what it should be."
