USAO provides educational opportunities for Grady County Princess contest recipients

— The Grady County Fairboard is making preliminary plans to host the 24th Annual Grady County Fair Princess Contest on Monday, August 18th at the Grady County Fairgrounds. The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) will offer tuition waivers for the Princess Contest special award recipients. The Princess will receive a full tuition waiver for one academic year estimated at $4,000-$5,000; the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Runners Up, Miss Photogenic, & Miss Congeniality will each receive a $2,000 tuition waiver for one academic year.

Participants may receive only one scholarship. Recipients must become full-time, degree seeking students at USAO and meet all admission requirements and satisfactory academic progress standards. The scholarship waives tuition and is awarded for one year, for fall/spring terms. The recipient is expected to use the scholarship during their first year of college attendance at USAO and will be governed by USAO’s general scholarship policies and procedures in effect at the time of use.

There will be an orientation meeting for all contestants on Monday, August 4th at 2:00pm at the Grady County Fairgrounds. You must attend this meeting and submit your entry before or at that time. No late entries will be accepted. Entry forms are available at the Grady County Fairgrounds, 500 E. Choctaw or contact Heather Meeks at 459-9147 or the Grady County Fairgrounds at 224-2031.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

● The contest is open to all Sophomore, Junior and Senior girls that are enrolled in or attend classes on  a full-time basis at an accredited public, private or home-schooling program.

● Must reside in Grady County.

● Contestants must be single, never married, nor have been the parent of any natural or adopted child.

●  Never have been convicted of a crime, does not have any criminal charges pending against her, and must be of good moral character.

●  Be and always have been female.

●  Be a United States citizen.

●  Does not use or consume alcohol or any illegal controlled dangerous substance.

●  Agree that all decisions of the judge are final and binding.

●  A $35 sponsorship is required for all contestants.

●  Talent competition should be limited to 2-4 minutes. Talent is subject to review and approval.

●  Contestants will be judged on talent, evening gown and interview.

●  All contestants should bring (2) 4x6 pictures to the meeting on Monday, August 4th. One will  be used in newspaper articles and one will be used for the Photogenic Contest. The $35.00  sponsorship is also due at this meeting.
