Chickasha Public Library hosts Summer Luncheons starting June 19

— The Chickasha Public Library Summer Luncheons have three different flavors for bookworms to enjoy: poetry, romantic suspense and sci-fi/fantasy.

The Friends of the Library will begin their Summer Luncheons at the University of Science and Art Regents Room at noon on June 19 with Karen Knauss Bailey. Bailey is a Poet Society of Oklahoma poet laureate as well as a nominee for Oklahoma Poet Laureate, according to a release from the Chickasha Public Library.

The USAO graduate and current Blanchard resident will be discussing her collection of poetry about the 77 counties of Oklahoma, aptly titled "77 Pieces of Poetry about Oklahoma."

The second author luncheon will be on July 17 and will feature romance author, Anna Kittrell. She is the author of romantic suspense, including "Skinbound" and "Another Man's Treasure" as well as a title for young adults, "Witcha'be." Kittrell currently resides in Anadarko.

The third and final featured author will be Stacy Shofner Williams. Williams will be discussing her new novel, titled "Of Shadow and Ash." According to the author's Facebook page, the book stemmed from a spinoff of one of her characters in an online Star Wars fan fiction writing club and evolved into something altogether different, though still within the realm of sci-fi/fantasy.

Each luncheon will also feature a local reader reviewing a book they would recommend.

At noon on May 15, the Friends of the Library will hold their annual meeting at the USAO Alumni House for the election of new officers and to give thanks to outgoing officers.
