Grady County OHCE to strut stuff in fashion show

— The Grady County Oklahoma Home and Community Education group will bring a hometown flair to traditional clothes from around the world during their annual fashion show.

With this year's theme of "Fashion Around the World," attendees can expect to see homemade clothing inspired by other countries, including colorful Mexican skirts and silken Japanese kimonos.

The show will be at 6:30 p.m. April 22 at the Chickasha campus of the Canadian Valley Technology Center.

Grady County OHCE member Pat King said the fashion show has been a tradition for 60 years that she knows of and she took part in it as a child.

There will be a separate show for children and adults, King said.

The clothes modeled by children are usually made by a member of their family, but some of the children made their own designs, she said.

"[Attendees] might get an idea to make an outfit," King said.

The event will also feature door prizes, including hanging plants and refreshments.

Among their many projects in the community, OHCE sometimes teaches people to sew and donates quilts to soldiers and their families, King said.
