Man arrested in DA's lobby for public intox

— A man was arrested for public intoxication after causing a disturbance in the district attorney's lobby.

A Chickasha Police Officer was speaking to a subject in an unrelated case when Irvin Roach approached the subject and asked her what she had said to him.

The subject, surprised at Roach's behavior, replied that she had not said anything to him. The officer reported that Roach was agitated and could not keep still.

The officer made contact with a parole officer who said that Roach had reported that pine needles were in his truck and he did not know how they got there. The probation officer said that Roach was acting in a manner that alarmed her.

The officer then made contact with Roach who was still in the lobby. Roach said that two male subjects gave him methamphetamine on Saturday and he felt it was still in his system. Roach said he things the subjects may have poisoned him with arsenic or some other "hot shot."

Roach said that he had been sober but relapsed this past weekend. Roach declined assistance from emergency management services and said he had already seen a doctor.

The officer noticed that Roach had rapid speech and visible eyelid and body tremors. The officer asked Roach to close his eyes and count 30 seconds in his head to gauge Roach's internal clock. Roach told the officer he reached 30 seconds after only 13 seconds.

The officer told Roach that he felt Roach was under the influence and Roach replied that he felt the same way.

Roach said he had driven to Chickasha from his home in El Reno because he wanted someone to help him.

Roach said that he was on probation but the probation officer at the district attorney's office in Chickasha said Roach was not a probation client with them.

Roach was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to the Grady County Jail.
