A fight resulted in the hospitalization of one man and the arrest of another Nov. 19.

Chickasha Police Officer Ryan Rahlf responded to the incident in the 1400 block of N. 16th Street.

"While en route, dispatch said that the fight was getting worse and one person was on the ground and was being kicked in the face by another," said Rahlf. "Upon arrival I noticed a white male lying on his back in the yard of the aforementioned residence. I could also see a large amount of blood on his face."

Rahlf alerted dispatch to send an EMS unit to the scene.

"I was told the suspect fled southeast in the trailer park," said Rahlf.

Rahlf made contact with Shayla Jackson. Rahlf said Jackson told him the man on the ground was Christopher Howell. The EMS arrived and took Howell to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Jackson told Rahlf she was previously in a romantic relationship with Howell. She said she maintained a friendship with Howell and he invited her and her boyfriend, James Ratliff, to his trailer.

"Shayla said that Christopher began drinking heavily and she knows him to get violent when he drinks, so she told James they needed to leave," said Rahlf. "Shayla said Christopher got upset with her and punched her in the mouth. I could see that Shayla had a slightly swollen lip and her mouth was full of dried blood. Shayla said that James stood up to Christopher for her and the two of them began fighting. The next she knew James was running away and Christopher was on the ground."

Rahlf said he contacted Ratliff at Grady Memorial Hospital after he was released from treatment. Ratliff said he was drinking and didn't remember anything about the fight.

CPD Sgt. Jeremy Alexander took Ratliff into custody for an outstanding warrant. He said he spoke with Ratliff who told almost the same story as Jackson.

Rahlf contacted Howell at the hospital.

"I was told that Christopher had a fractured orbital bone on the left side of his face," Rahlf said. "Christopher's left eye was swollen shut and he had a bandage on his left hand. I could also see several swollen knots on Christopher's head. I asked Christopher to tell me what happened during the fight. Christopher said he had been drinking and he doesn't remember anything about the fight or what led up to it.

Ratliff was booked into the Grady County Jail on aggravated assault and battery.
