Robots join in on RIAF fun

More wineries, a grand musical finale and rocket shooting robots are just some of the attractions that the public can enjoy on Sept. 27-28.

The fifth annual Rock Island Arts Festival is ready to take place this Friday and Saturday at the Rock Island Depot in Chickasha.

Dave Sateyesh, who has been coordinating the events, was interviewed on KATT radio Tuesday night promoting the festival.

The KATT will be doing their afternoon traffic jam show on Friday from the festival's location in Chickasha, Sateyesh said.

Crazy Dave's Grand Finale of Music will help close out the two days of performances. The finale begins at 8:30 p.m. and will feature Ryan Reid, Dr. Dan Hanson of the University of Science and Art Oklahoma, Mandi Whitchard, Rado Romo and  Nevada Romo.

The Chickasha High School Robotics team is another addition to the list of special performances. The team will do a demonstration at 10 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

After the 10 a.m. demonstration and just before the 1 p.m. demonstration, the robotics team will be adding a little "flare" to the festival. Festival goers will be able to make paper rockets, which the robotics team will then launch.

The public is invited to this free, annual event to rock out, shoot a rocket and enjoy art in its many forms.
