Game Stop opened its doors to the public today after years of planning and about four months of construction.
"The citizens of Chickasha have been clamoring for this for a very long time and a lot of the stores in the area like Moore, Duncan and Mustang would hear 'When are you coming to Chickasha' almost every day," Matt Whitmill, district manager of Game Stop Oklahoma City South said.
Over the last few years, Whitmill and Game Stop have been moved toward creating some groundwork to bring a Game Stop to Chickasha.
"We found a spot and were finally able to make it work," he said.
That spot is in the Southland Shopping Center next to Hibbits Sports.
Although seemingly a little larger than most locations, Whitmill said this store is about the same size, but sacrificed the common depth associated with Game Stop locations for more width.
"Linear square feet wise we are going to house as many titles on the wall as any other Game Stop," he said.
Whitmill said the store is a bit larger than most though and he's excited to see what the new location will bring.
Game Stop is one of three new businesses to open in the Southland Shopping Center in the last month along with Boomerang Diner and Shape Fitness.
