Grady County fire fighter fund raiser primed for day of fun

— The 26 fire stations in Grady County are hosting a fundraiser to benefit all the firefighters who put their lives in danger everyday this weekend.

The event will be Aug. 4, starting at 10 a.m. and will last through late afternoon.

There will be several activities going on throughout the day.

A silent auction featuring 100 items including thunder tickets, gift cards to several restaurants in Chickasha, and a one-year subscription The Express-Star.

The silent auction is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. followed by lunch at 11 a.m.

Both the silent auction and lunch will shut down at 2 p.m.

Also, the Oklahoma Fire Pipes and Drums - Bagpipe and Drums - will put on a performance during the day.

The event is for children too.

There will be Fire Department units positioned outside so the children may toot the horn, sound the siren and look around the trucks.

A slide show presentation and music will go on throughout the day. Fire equipment will be available to view or handle all day.

The Channel 9 News helicopter will make an appearance along will several news media stations from around the area.

The fundraiser will be held in the North building of the Grady County Fairgrounds on east Choctaw in Chickasha.

Tuttle fireman and chaplain Larry Steverson, plans to oversee the event and bless the meal.

The Grady County firefighters thanked all the businesses that made cash donations so they may put on this county-wide event.
