Amber man killed by train

AMBER — A man was struck and killed by a train early Sunday morning in Chickasha according to reports from the Grady County Sheriff's department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

Daniel Watson, a 42-year-old male from Amber was transported to a medical examiner's officer after being pronounced dead at the scene. An OHP report by Trooper Michael Jewell on the incident states that he died of "massive injuries."

The report also sates that the train was southbound on the railroad track and struck Watson, who was lying in the track at a crossing.

Both passengers on the train live in Chickasha and were reported to be in "apparently normal" condition.

Grady County Sheriff Art Kell said a deputy from the sheriff's office responded to the incident, but issues like these are typically handled by OHP. Kell said he did not think this was a suicide.

Watson was allegedly drinking the night before the incident and may have laid down in the crossing and passed out according to Kell.

The weather was clear and there was nothing irregular about the tracks according to Jewell's report.
