Grady County's unemployment rate drops in August

Jobless numbers across the area dropped in August, according to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission which released the month's figures last week.

Grady County had 1,200 persons out of work during the month in a 22,599-member labor force. That put the county's unemployment at 5.3 percent, down from 5.9 percent in both June and July and 7 percent a year ago. Grady County has the 33rd highest unemployment among Oklahoma's 77 counties.
