With the Interurban in Duncan now open and operating, the same owners are making progress on a Chickasha location.
Front loaders are now out moving dirt while workers install piping at the future Interurban site, located across from Walmart on Grand Avenue. Work at the site was delayed this summer, due in part to making sure bank loans for the project were secure.
"If you go out there now, you'll see lots of activity," Zachary Grayson, co-owner of the Chickasha Interurban and the Duncan branch, said.
Construction is expected to take between four and five months, and Grayson admits there is no set opening date at this time.
"We're looking at either end of November or sometime in early January," he said. "I'd be lying if I told you we had an official date to open."
There are already employees lined up to begin work at Interurban when it does open.
"We've got a great crew," Grayson said. "We've got some managers already hired, so we'll be ready to get staff trained as soon as we get to that point."
Interurban has multiple locations across Oklahoma and serves a variety of foods, including burgers, steaks, and tex-mex.
