CHICKASHA — A Chickasha Wal-Mart employee was arrested Wednesday for allegedly taking $2,948.61 from her cash register.
Chickasha Police Officer Colten Weger said Wal-Mart employees checked the log for the cash registers and the money in Kati Williams' register was short.
"[Williams] confessed to taking around $2,900 and that some of the money was in the glove compartment of her vehicle. She also advised us she spent some money on trips to Tulsa and Norman, Oklahoma, where she bought herself and a friend some items."
Officers retrieved $1,472 from the glove compartment and Williams admitted the money belonged to the store. The money was returned to a store manager, according to an incident report.
Officers saw surveillance footage from June 8 that showed Williams taking money and putting it in a trash can, before coming back to put it in her left sock, Weger said.
Williams was arrested for embezzlement and taken to the Grady County Jail.
