CHICKASHA — Those who want to register to vote in the June 24 primary election and Verden special election must do so by May 30.
Grady County Election Board Secretary Susan Turner said people who need to register or change their name, address or other information can pick up voter registration forms from the county election board office at 307 W. Pennsylvania Ave. in Chickasha or download the form from the www.ok.gov/elections website.
The applications must be postmarked by midnight on May 30, Turner said. Applications received after that time will be processed, but not in time for the June 24 elections.
The Verden special election will determine whether or not an ordinance to grant the Public Service Company of Oklahoma a 25-year non-exclusive franchise to use streets, alleys, avenues, ways and other public places in Verden for creating a system manufacturing and distributing electricity and communication circuits to the town and general public.
Those who submit a voter registration form receive either a voter identification card or a letter that explains why their voter registration wasn't approved, Turner said.
The county election board is also accepting applications for absentee ballots for the June 24 elections until 5 p.m. on June 18.
