Prelim set for Thompson murder trial

The preliminary trial for a man accused of assaulting his fiance and killing the daughter of a Norman deputy police chief's daughter has been set for Dec. 18.

A preliminary conference set for 1:30 p.m. today was preceded by the defense attorney for Steven Thompson, Irven Box, setting the date that morning for the case to be heard in Judge Timothy A. Brauer's Grady County courtroom.

Thompson faces charges of first-degree murder stemming from a June incident in which Sara Maisano was reportedly killed with a single shot gun blast to the head at a residence in Amber. In addition, Thompson is charged with assaulting his fiance, Katie Garner, during the same incident.

Representing the prosecution is assistant District Attorney Courtnie Siess.
