County Election Board encouraging early arrival on election day

CHICKASHA — The Grady County Election Board is encouraging locals to get to the polls as early as possible on June 24.

County Election Board Secretary Susan Turner said the polls for the primary and Verden special elections will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must bring their voter identification card, driver license, or another form of identification.

Turner said lines are likely to be shortest during mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

"If you have questions about how to mark your ballot to ensure that it is counted correctly, ask the Precinct Officials," she said. "If you make a mistake marking your ballot, don't try to correct it. Take the spoiled ballot back to the Precinct Officials. They will destroy it and give you a new one."

If voters receive their ballot back from the voting device, Precinct Officials will issue a new ballot, Turner said.

Voters can call the County Election Board Office at 405-224-1430 or the online voter tool at the top left of the website for questions about their eligibility or location of polling places.
