Inhofe said he fears consequences for the United States from the Iraqi unrest.
"This is a direct result of the vacuum created by the Obama Administration’s failure of leadership and failed foreign policy. It is giving terrorists a safe haven in Iraq, Syria, and soon Afghanistan, and will bring terrorists to our door step," he said.
Inhofe said he spoke with Gen. Joseph Dunford yesterday on the deteriorating situation in Iraq, and the future of Afghanistan.
"I also told him that I’m deeply concerned about the future of the mission in Afghanistan. President Obama’s reckless decision to release five top Taliban commanders from Guantanamo increases the threat to the fragile government of Afghanistan, legitimizes the Taliban, and comes on the heels of the President’s announcement to withdraw troops at the end of 2016 without consideration of the conditions on the ground," he said.
