Woman arrested for threatening officer with 'hand' gun following car accident

CHICKASHA —

A woman, who was involved in a head-on collision on 4th Street and Grand Ave. yesterday, was arrested for assaulting an officer after she allegedly began yelling at and threatening officers on the scene.

All officers on duty were dispatched to the crash site and Chickasha Police Sgt. Jeremy Alexander told CPD Officer Chad King the driver of one of the vehicles involved, Virginia Smith, was screaming at other cars in the middle of the road, according to an incident report.

King said CPD Officer LeAnthony Bell was speaking with Smith and attempted to have her perform a field sobriety test.

"Officer Bell was walking with Smith; she looked back at me and screamed…Smith reached into her dress and pulled her hand out making me think she had a gun," he said. "Smith made her hand into the shape of a gun, pointing at me, yelling, 'Bang, bang, bang, bang, you're dead.'"

King said he and Bell managed to restrain her, but she continued to yell and threatened to kill them.

Smith was arrested for assaulting a police officer and threatening to perform an act of violence and taken to the Grady County Jail.
